Hello, Attached are the third drafts of Ice Forecaster Competency Framework and Ice Analyst Competency Framework. As suggested by Dr. Vasily Smolyanitsky back in October 2018 and agreed upon during our past IICWG Co-Chairs’ Coordinating Group teleconferences, I am sending them to you in order to to bring them into discussion at the 7th meeting of Expert Team on Sea Ice (ETSI) In Geneva in May. Our goal is to seek WMO acceptance after that. We will target the 2020 Congress for WMO approval. NOTES - We discussed within our group that WMO Marine Weather Forecaster Competence Framework should be revisited and relevant ice competences should be removed from there. - It was agreed upon the fact that there are overlaps with the WMO Marine Weather Forecaster competencies that must be addressed – the two competencies do not have to be mutually exclusive but they must be mutually compatible; this could be an action for ETSI to discuss with the Expert Team on Maritime Safety Services (ETMSS). I want to thank each member of the task team for his or her highly appreciated contributions. I hope that these documents will be eventually approved by WMO and I hope we will be able to continue working on standards related to ice forecasting and ice analysis. If I can help in any way moving this forward, please do not hesitate to contact me.
